Adam & Even, You & Your Phone – The Devil Is Working You

3 min

Ge:3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Ge:3:2: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Ge:3:3: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Ge:3:4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Ge:3:5: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Ge:3:6: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

God spent more than 5 days working, creating the world and with it, creating a home for humanity. He made sure that everything was just perfect and self sustainable for millions of years to come. Every task He set to accomplish, He saw it good. And when Adam and Eve were created, God was satisfied with the work.

In other words, right at that moment, God saw that for a man to live happily with God ever after, He (God) had given man the best deal ever. In other words, right before the fall of man, that was the best man would ever be. He was given literally everything he would need to be in a happy relationship with God.

The Devil knew all that. In other words, there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that the Devil could offer man, that which God had not given man. So the Devil’s approach had to be ingenious. Did God say you cannot eat of EVERY tree in the garden? Obviously both the Devil and Eve had a perfect answer, no. God had not said that. And the rest is history.

Yesterday I got to watch someone play Candy Crush. I also at some point did play Candy Crush among other games on PC and on Smart phones. Then something got into my mind. This is the same Eve story replaying over and over again.

The guys who create these games are in perfect sync with the plan of the Devil. Simply create something interesting. make it very easy, at least for the first few steps. Eve was not asked to kill no! She was never asked to steal. All she was asked was, did God say you can not eat of all trees? Then he suggested that eating of that particular tree is beneficial.

Then after that first fall, humanity has always been falling, attack after attack. Next it was Cain murdering his brother and the whole story keeps repeating itself till now.

So you start playing that game. The first few levels are simple. You actually think you are testing your intelligence. How sharp are you? And after every level, you get more hooked. it gets more complicated. You spend hours trying to just complete one level. Your day and emotions are frustrated every time you fail to complete the level and you spend extra time on the same game.

And while doing it, your mind has a false perception of victory. You think you are achieving something. You are winning over. You are getting to achieve things the creator thought you would never. You are breaking records and making progress. But in truth? All you ever needed was the phone. All Eve ever needed was to stay true to God.

The simple truth is, you will not win. There is nothing really to win. Think of your spiritual life. Think of your relationship with your phone. And think of Eve and the Devil. There is nothing to win. Eve never got a better deal, neither will you. The deal you have with God is the best it ever is going to get and trust me, it is millions of lives worth it than the deal you will get with the Devil.

Maybe it is time you put that phone down. Maybe it is time to put that addiction down-whichever it is, it simply works the same way. Whether it is sex, drugs or games. It will never get any better. It will never give you a better promise than that with God.

Put that phone down.
