In Crime, Criminal responsibility applies not only to those who perform criminal acts but also to those who aid and abet a perpetrator by encouraging or in any way knowingly helping in the commission of such an act (e.g., by providing information, implements, or practical help). Those who actually perform the criminal act (e.g., wielding the weapon that strikes the fatal blow) are often called principals…
For instance, a mother who knows her husband is sexually assaulting their daughter but to ‘save’ the marriage decides to be silent about it. In the Court of Law, the woman may have loved her daughter but her knowledge and negligence makes her criminally responsible for the crimes the husband committed.
Christianity today has become something of a whole conspiracy affair where we all know the truth but we want to have ‘our’ truth, something that we feel comfortable with or ‘acceptable’ to us.
We therefore have ‘certain’ preferences as far as the gospel of Christ is concerned. We are not very comfortable with ‘certain’ preachers. Certain preachers are abhorred for the kind of ‘message’ they preach.
Christians have now left the work of reading the scriptures to these men of the cloth. We have given these men a very hard task. To read and interpret the bible for us. But we still give them certain conditions. For instance, some churches now preach ‘it is ok to drink alcohol, just do not come to church drunk, after all, Christ came for the sinners right?’
These churches thus become popular with people who give themselves to the world and every worship day or when there is need for a contribution, they give in the most-some sort of penance for their sins. The priests and pastors in full knowledge of this will even encourage it.
At the end of the day, it is the Christian that is worst deceived. That Christian then becomes ‘criminally ‘ responsible. The bible is clear that “the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:Acts 17:30”
In short, Ignorance will no longer be a defense before God. We simply cannot say ‘I did not know it was sin’. Problem with Christianity unlike a court of law where you can be guilty but a great lawyer gets you off the hook, in Christianity it is called sin. It is something that is in you.
The prayer of David shows clearly what sin is “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7″ It is something that makes you dirty and as such unfit to be in the presence of God. It therefore does not matter if you were misled by a false pastor who wanted to make an extra coin or you knew what you did was sin and went ahead to do it, either way, you have made yourself dirty with sin.
It is therefore very important that every Christian does not simply accept the words of the pastors and clergy as the gospel truth.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 1 Tim 4:13
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 1 Peter 2:2
Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Psalm 119:1-176
As a Christian, it is your responsibility to ‘search and try’ the word of God. It is your responsibility to not just believe in any spirit but to ‘test if that Spirit is of God” 1 John 4:1
Your failure to read and comprehend the biblical truths, and should that failure lead you to sin, yes the person that deceived you, the person that led you astray by teaching contrary to the gospel of God is guilty, but you are also criminally responsible. Again, Ignorance of the word of God is no defense.
