DON’T SCROLL WITHOUT TYPING AMEN. ONE COMMENT=ONE PRAYER
Uh, how the devil makes things seems easier. Now forgeting texting God on whatsapp. Forget those taunting photos that tell you if you ‘don’t share you don’t love God’. Now we have newer ways of praying.
Someone shares a graphic image of someone who is either sick or going through a period of sickness etc and they taunt you to not leave before you comment AMEN.
The poster alleges that typing an AMEN command is synonymous with making a prayer for that person. Then there usually is a caveat. If you don’t like/share/comment then you don’t love God and blessings attached to that post will pass you by.
How true is that?
We have entered a very dangerous phase of our Christianity. A phase where we are summarizing everything about God and religion. Liking a ‘prophet’s post’ about a house and you expect God to drop one tomorrow. Another one posts photos of dollars and promises all your debts are paid for in full if you ‘comment in faith Amen’, and yet your debts still glare at you.
How does prayer work? James 5:16 (different versions)
*The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
*The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
*The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
There are two conditions that Paul puts out for every prayer, (1) FERVENT and (2) Righteous.
Fervent is defined as having or displaying a passionate intensity. have you ever prayed passionately?
This is how Luke defines Jesus prayer the night He was betrayed, Lu:22:44: And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Praying passionately. God is not facebook to track down the number of Facebook likes and comments to convert them into miracles, and it just does not work that way.
The second condition for prayers is you have to be righteous. That is why Paul admonishes us to “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. James 5:16”.
We must first approach God having confessed to our brothers and sisters whom we have offended. We must then go to God for forgiveness of sins.
It is a fallacy to think that by simply commenting on a post you are praying for someone. Your thoughts might be in the right place but that is simply not prayer.
Create in your life time for prayer. let this time not be disrupted by anything. Anytime of the day, set aside time for prayer and not once. Then set aside time everyday or week for intercessory prayers. Everyday when you pray keep asking God to bring you closer, to cleanse you and keep dedicating the day you have set aside for intercessory prayer to God.
As you browse through social media, take note of the people/communities/countries/situations that you would like to pray for. On that day, spend every minute claiming God’s promises for these people. Pray as you would for your own soul.
Stop falling for the Devil’s plan to water down the importance of prayer in your life. Prayer is the only weapon you have between you and the devil and when you reduce it to a Facebook like, or a Facebook comment, then your prayer life is no more and you are standing on a very dangerous ground.
