“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson’s there is nothing wrong with Carson being a Seventh-day Adventist. “I have met Ben Carson. He’s a super nice person,” he said on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.” “He’s a nice guy, a great guy. I certainly share his faith.”
At the same time, Willie praised Trump for being fearless about his comments against the Islamic State and its persecution of Christians. “I remember when he said it and I think it was the first time I ever heard someone actually say it who is running for president,” he said. “I didn’t hear a lot of talk about it [before that]. As a Christian, I was like, ‘What is going on in this world?'”
“Those kinds of things to me are big,” he further said. “I hurt for those people all over the world who are being persecuted.”
Willie is actually pretty happy with the GOP line-up for 2016, since the presidential hopefuls are all dedicated in preserving religious liberty. “These are great guys and I love talking to them and sharing ideas with them,” he said, also citing former Gov. Mike Huckabee.
The “Duck Dynasty” patriarch then clarified that he has never formally supported any candidate, and he does not see himself doing it in the near future given the fact that he has a television show to run.
“I’m not a politician so I don’t really endorse people,” he said. “I don’t know if I have time to run around [in support of a candidate]. I have a television show.”
What Willie is sure of, on the other hand, is that he will vote for someone not just because he or she is a Christian, but also because that candidate has what it takes to make America great again. “It’s not all about religion to me,” he clarified. “It’s about who has the competency to run [the country].”
