The president of The Philippines is likening himself to Adolf Hitler and admitted he wants to kill three million Filipinos.
Pres. Duterte: “Hitler massacred 3 million Jews … . There’s 3 million drug addicts”
During a speech Friday, September 30, in the city of Davao, President Rodrigo Duterte, a self-professed dictator, likened himself to the man responsible for the Holocaust, saying he’d be “happy” to massacre millions.
“Hitler massacred three million Jews,” Duterte declared. ‘There’s three million drug addicts. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”
The office of the president claims that while Duterte isn’t Hitler, he nevertheless does want to slaughter millions of Filipinos involved with illegal drugs and does support extrajudicial killings amounting to mass murder.
During the same talk in Davao City, President Duterte made another comparison of himself to Hitler. “If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have —” pausing and pointing to himself. “You know my victims. I would like (them) to be all criminals to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition.”
In a national radio show the following day, presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella backed Duterte’s claims that such extreme measures are required to save the country. “He likewise draws an oblique conclusion that while the Holocaust was an attempt to exterminate the future generation of Jews, the so-called extrajudicial killings, roundly attributed to him, will nevertheless result in the salvation of the next generation of Filipinos.”
Since Duterte took office in July, more than 3,100 people have been murdered in vigilante killings allegedly related to drug abuse. Filipino bishops have condemned the killings but to no avail.
The largely Catholic population elected Duterte to clean up corruption but did so against the advice of the country’s bishops. Since then Duterte has attacked the Catholic Church, calling it “irrelevant.”
Under the guise of stopping illicit drug trade and related governmental issues Duterte, also known as the “punisher,” has declared he may dissolve congress. “I have to stop criminality and corruptionm” he insisted. “I have to fix this government. I won’t do it if you want to place me there with the solemn pledge to stick to the rules.”
Two days after his comments about the Holocaust, Duterte apologized to those offended by his reference but never backed away from his intention of killing millions of his countrymen. “I would like to make it now, here and now, that there was never an intention on my part to derogate the memories of six million Jews murdered by the Germans,” he clarified.
