Jesus is truly the Only Begotten Son of God not role playing as the Trinity teaches

3 min

The Trinity doctrine claims that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three co-equal, co-eternal gods that are not three gods but one god. But how can Jesus be the literal Son of God if He has always existed alongside the Father? And how can the Father be a Father if Jesus is not really His Son? Hence the Trinity doctrine and other similar beliefs like Unitarians deny that Jesus is the literal Son of God in one way or another.

If you do not confess Jesus is the Son of God then you are separated from God. And if you do not believe Jesus is the Son of God and that God gave His literal Son then you make God a liar and you do not have eternal life.

“Whosoever shall CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15

“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that BELIEVETH THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD?” 1 John 5:5

“He that believeth on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he that believeth not God has made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life.” 1 John 5:10-12

Is Jesus role-playing as a Son?

“This fact the [fallen] angels would obscure, that Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and they came to consider that they were not to consult Christ.”
— {TDG, p. 128.2} – EGW

“Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and Lucifer, that glorious angel, got up a warfare over the matter, until he had to be thrust down to the earth.”
— {Ms86-1910 (August 21, 1910) par. 30} – EGW

“Christ is declared in the Scriptures to be the Son of God. From all eternity He has sustained this relation to Jehovah. Before the foundations of the world were laid, He, the only begotten Son of God, pledged Himself to become the Redeemer of the human race should men sin. Adam fell, and He, who was partaker of the Father’s glory before the world was, laid aside His royal robe and kingly crown and stepped down from His high authority to become a babe in Bethlehem, that He might redeem fallen human beings by passing over the ground where Adam stumbled and fell. He subjected Himself to the temptations that Satan brings against men and women, and not all the assaults of the enemy could make Him swerve from His loyalty to the Father. By a sinless life, He testified that every son and daughter of Adam can resist the temptations of the one who first brought sin into the world. ¶ Christ brought men and women power to overcome. He came to this world in human form, to live a man among men. He assumed the liabilities of human nature, to be proved and tried. In His humanity He was a partaker of the divine nature. In His incarnation he gained in a new sense the title of the Son of God. Said the angel to Mary, “The power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing that shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” While the son of a human being, Christ became the Son of God in a new sense. Thus He stood in our world—the Son of God, yet allying Himself by birth to the human race.”
— {Ms22-1905.4-5} – EGW

“The King of the universe summoned the heavenly hosts before Him, that in their presence He might set forth the true position of His Son and show the relation He sustained to all created beings. The Son of God shared the Father’s throne, and the glory of the eternal, self-existent One encircled both. About the throne gathered the holy angels, a vast, unnumbered throng–“ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands” (Revelation 5:11.), the most exalted angels, as ministers and subjects, rejoicing in the light that fell upon them from the presence of the Deity. Before the assembled inhabitants of heaven the King declared that none but Christ, the Only Begotten of God, could fully enter into His purposes, and to Him it was committed to execute the mighty counsels of His will. The Son of God had wrought the Father’s will in the creation of all the hosts of heaven; and to Him, as well as to God, their homage and allegiance were due. Christ was still to exercise divine power, in the creation of the earth and its inhabitants. But in all this He would not seek power or exaltation for Himself contrary to God’s plan, but would exalt the Father’s glory and execute His purposes of beneficence and love.”
— {Patriarchs and Prophets, page 36} – EGW

CHRIST’S INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITY WAS MYSTERIOUSLY BEGOTTEN OF GOD IN THE BEGINNING OF GOD’S WAY (In the beginning was the Word, before anything was created), YET HIS DIVINE NATURE AND IMMORTAL LIFE, WHICH IS A PART OF GOD HIMSELF, ALWAYS HAS BEEN. CHRIST IS GOD’S SECOND SELF, HIS EXPRESS IMAGE, THE OUTSHINING OF HIS GLORY.

“The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father, is truly God in infinity, but not in personality.”
— {Ms116-1905.19} – EGW

“The Eternal Father, the unchangeable one, gave his only begotten Son, tore from his bosom Him who was made in the express image of his person, and sent him down to earth to reveal how greatly he loved mankind.”
— {Review and Herald, July 9, 1895, par. 13} – EGW
