A statue of what is purported to be Jesus located inside a church in Mexico’s state of Coahuila de Zaragoza has shocked thousands of people after a video supposedly of it opening its eyes went viral.
The eerie video, which was taken inside the Chapel of Saltillo, focused on the statue while church service was ongoing in the background. Then, the figure seemed to come to life as it quickly opened its eyes then closed it again, according to the Mirror UK.
Paranormal investigators have tried to determine whether or not the video has been manipulated, or if the statue opening its eyes was merely an optical illusion.
The footage was taken in June, according to Elancasti.com.ar, but it was only made viral this week by Adimensional – a website that specialises in paranormal cases.
The video quickly went viral with many suggesting a miracle happened.

The best clue to the fact that the video was doctored is the fact that alterations in other areas of the image occur at precisely the same moments the eyes open and close. For example, here, in sequence, are three frames showing the statue’s eyes wide open, in the process of closing, and completely closed. Observe the changes in the shadows around the eyes and — not to be indelicate, but this is a giveaway — the change in the shape of Jesus’ right nipple:
If the only thing happening in these relatively stable frames were the closing of the statue’s eyes, no other changes ought to be visible. But changes are visible, especially when the footage is viewed frame-by-frame.
