And, action!
Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome, the Vicar of Jesus Christ, will appear in the independent film “Beyond the Sun,” a movie reportedly created at his behest.
Francis, the beloved pontiff whose papacy began in 2013 and who has championed awareness for the poor, has a cameo in the film, written and directed by Graciela Rodriguez, TheWrap reports.
“Beyond the Sun” is about a group of multicultural children who “emulate aspects of the apostles,” the site adds.
Production on “Beyond the Sun” has just completed in Argentina.
According to a news release, it was Francis who wanted the movie to come to fruition — so that children can witness Jesus’ message.
Francis’ cameo will be with a group of child actors. They include: Aiden Cumming-Teicher, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Emma Duke, Kyle Breitkopf and Sebastian Alexander Chou, TheWrap notes.
Francis won’t be collecting a paycheck, of course. Profits from the film will be donated to two charities: El Almendro and Los Hogares de Cristo, according to financier AMBI.
Both charities represent messages close to Francis’ heart.
