In the Catholic Church, the pope is claimed to the visible head of the church because of their belief that Jesus Christ made Peter the head of the church. If you have read this entire article, then you know how dangerous it can be to form entire doctrines out of a false interpretation of one verse.
I am going to share a series of ‘prayers’ that are to be offered for the Pope…the source is Our Catholic Prayers ;
In our prayers for the pope, such as this one below, we can ask our Heavenly Father to help guide our Holy Father Pope Francis to be a worthy Vicar of Christ (His “representative”) as he tends to the spiritual needs of over one billion Catholics worldwide.
Did you see that? According to them, God is the ‘heavenly Father’ and the Pope is the ‘Holy Father’. But how can that be? Jesus himself said;
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 23:9 (KJV )
The site continues with more horrific prayers
In light of our Holy Father’s awesome responsibilities as an administrator, teacher, and ambassador for our faith worldwide, the following two prayers for the pope seem most appropriate.
Almighty and Everlasting God, have mercy on Your servant [name of Pope], our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him, according to Your loving kindness, in the way of eternal salvation, that with Your help he may ever desire that which is pleasing to You and accomplish it with all his strength. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord Jesus, shelter our Holy Father the Pope under the protection of Your Sacred Heart. Be his light, his strength and his consolation.
Again, every reference of the Pope is with the words Holy and not a single reference of God as “Holy, Supreme”
Note also that in addition to these prayers above, it is always good to pray for our Holy Father’s intentions during a morning offering or perhaps during the Rosary.
Allow me to ask one question before proceeding, if the Pope is indeed Holy, why would he need to be prayed for? By admitting to be Holy, he has taken a supreme position (oh wait, he is also called Supreme Pontiff), a position which is free of sin, above reproach and error……but they solved that as well, the Pope can never commit an error.
Catholicism maintains that the pope is infallible, incapable of error, when he teaches a doctrine on faith or morals to the universal Church in his unique office as supreme head.
There exists so many such written prayers that the Catholic faithful is expected to recite and they will in absolute ignorance of what the Bible states.
If you are a Catholic reading this, the Bible and The BIBLE ALONE should be your rule of faith. It is your shield against apostasy and I pray that you accept to prayerfully read the bible to come to the understanding that God intended, not the corrupt tainted message you have been taught.
