Every November, the Catholic church dedicates it to ‘the souls’ in purgatory. Ok, maybe let us start with understanding what purgatory is.
The Catholic doctrine of purgatory supposes the fact that some die with smaller faults for which there was no true repentance, and also the fact that the temporal penalty due to sin is at times not wholly paid in this life.
In Roman Catholic doctrine purgatory is a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a “purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven,” which is experienced by those “who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified” (CCC 1030). It notes that “this final purification of the elect . . . is entirely different from the punishment of the damned” (CCC 1031). Source
In other words, according to the Catholic teachings, there are three groups. There is the group that goes directly to heaven (like Mary and their Popes), the kind of group that is of their faithfuls who have ‘not sinned so much’, and the third group, the damned. So purgatory is for the second group. Those who still have some ‘spots’ of imperfection even after ‘eating the body of Christ’. So these people are ‘punished’ for a set period of time depending on the gravity of their sins and once clean, they are let into heaven. Stupid right?
The Bible is clear of just two groups, the wicked and those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Rev 14:12
The Bible is also clear that between here and the next life, every soul is sleeping. Loved ones who die, whether holy or wicked are sleeping awaiting the coming of Christ.
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Joh_11:11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Joh_11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
So, before we debunk the lies of the Catholic Church, where really are all those people who died? We have seen above that they will be awaken, where are they really?
Job 21:29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
Job 21:30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
2Pe_2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Why is this teaching very wrong? Well for one, it makes the work of Christ at the cross incomplete and makes Christ a liar.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8
Why would Christ have to die if a sinner will still get to be punished before being saved? Christ promised to take that away by believing in Him.
See how the devil is trying to make insignificant the death of Christ? Because it is by the death of Christ that mankind is assured of salvation.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
A gift is not a gift if it comes with conditions attached, and God’s gift of Salvation is without conditions. If you accept Christ into your life wholly, you will be wholly saved. You should not think that for whatever it is you might have done in the past, God will hold it against you in a place of temporary punishment.
The Bible is calling the world out of this pagan devilish system that has installed itself as a church of God.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
