Sunday-Sabbath is a mark of Christian Unity – Lords Day Alliance US

4 min

Never thought we would get here but i guess we already were here before you, reading this post were born. As a Christian you have heard about National Sunday Laws and contentions on the issue of the Sabbath, Sunday or Saturday.

While you might think these issues started out, well they started right after Christ had ascended back to Heaven. Persecution had began and just as Daniel had prophesied, God’s Sabbath was already targeted.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

There is a group in the US that calls itself the Lord’s Day Alliance of LDAUSA. Stumbled on their website and they make some really shocking claims about Sunday. I will share some of their statements with links to their site on where you can read them. Their statements are in italics my comments are not.

The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States exists to encourage Christians to reclaim the Sabbath–the Lord’s Day–as a day of spiritual and personal renewal, enabling them to impact their communities with the Gospel. About page

See how the Devil starts out with the truth and turns it into a lie in one sentence? Here is another example.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

These guys start out on the pretext of truth -reclaiming the Sabbath, then midway, they call it the Lord’s day or Sunday.

The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States (LDA) was founded in 1888. That year representatives of six major Protestant denominations met in Washington, D.C. to organize the American Sabbath Union; this name was later changed to The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States. The LDA has been the one national organization whose sole purpose is to maintain and cultivate the first day of the week as a time for rest, worship, Christian education and spiritual renewal.

Today, The Lord’s Day Alliance promotes the importance of the Sabbath, and a message of spiritual renewal and personal well-being in this fast-paced 24/7, 21st century American culture.

Imagine that! They know very well Sunday is the FIRST DAY of the week and yet it is their sole purpose to promote this first day of the week as the Sabbath to millions of American protestants who make up the six major denominations.

Look at their about me page and they have lots of people calling themselves ‘Reverend’ as board directors who have obtained diplomas and certificates and all manners of qualifications for theological work yet they insist on promoting the first day as the Sabbath.

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

God was not ambiguous. We cannot claim ambiguity in the Fourth Commandment. It is very clear, six days work. No note here carefully, God does not say “BUT ON THE SEVENTH DAY” HE says “THE SEVENTH DAY”. Specific. Clear.

The first thing I thought when I was going through their website is ‘maybe’ they got the numbers wrong. Maybe they mixed up the numbers of the ten commandments like the Catholics. See, the catholics decided all together to do away with the second commandment, change the fourth (which is now third) to read The Lord’s Day and split the tenth into two.

Looking at a different page on their website, on Bible study, they acknowledge the Sabbath commandment as the fourth, they just do not agree with the numbers. I quote a Bible study series they are doing on ten commandments.

Using the insights from the Lord’s Day Alliance’s annual “Sabbath Symposium,” this series of lessons seeks to uncover scriptural truths regarding how the connection between the Fourth Commandment’s instruction regarding keeping holy the Sabbath and the Tenth Commandment along with Jesus’ teachings regarding money can provide guidance in our daily living during challenging economic and prosperous times.

Sunday/Sabbath, Society of Greed and Abundance, and Jesus’ Teaching About Money: A Bible study considering the 4th and 10th Commandments

Again, starts with what appears to be truth and in one sentence break into a lie. They have an annual Sabbath Symposium which is to uncover scriptural truths right? They even reference the right number, the Fourth Commandment…..but ooops, they fall back to Sunday. The first day of the week.

A last quote from them

I also believe that our communal Sunday practices are a sign of unity (something we share as fellow believers) that what unites us is stronger and more profound than what divides us.

But there are challenges that remain in this Sunday “sign” of our unity in Christ. Christ’s Church is still not fully one, as he prayed for in John 17. Read full here

So friends, did you ever think we would be here. That people who have gone to obtain fancy degrees and diplomas in theology can be this ignorant in scripture? Of course they are not ignorant.

The other day, a pastor in Mombasa on Sunday tells his congregation that the Sabbath is actually Saturday.

Joh_14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh_14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Joh_15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

Friend, Sunday is a Mark yes, but a Mark of the Beast. The Catholic Church claims Sunday as her mark of authority over scriptures to make changes to divine laws of God. Of course we know no one has the powers to change the laws of God. Christ Himself says He keeps the commandments of His Father and Abides in his love. He also said that heaven and earth can pass way but not a single law of God will change. Because the laws of God are perfect as is.

Mat_5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Deu_32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Psa_18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psa_18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Jesus is coming to take back His people, but it is ONLY those who keep ALL HIS Commandments as they were written and intended.

Rev_14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
