The Sabbath Is An Eternal Sign Between God And His People
It is funny that the hope of every Christian is eternal life and yet they have little knowledge of what God has in store for this eternal life.
In Isaiah, God says, in the new heaven and the new earth that He has designed, the Sabbath is central and key to the whole grand design, As someone who has tiny knowledge in architecture and construction, the Sabbath in God’s design would probably relate to one of the key pillars of the building structural grid.
Why? You may ask.
For one, God has said that His chosen people today are those that keep His commandments, including the 4th commandment on Sabbath
Eze_20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
And two, God says that His people, His chosen people in all eternity shall go before Him every Sabbath to worship before Him,
like singing praises about God when really looking at Him, AWESOME!
Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
But here you are holding onto Sunday. The words Sabbath and Sabbaths are mentioned 149 times and at least 55 times in the New testament alone.
The word ‘first day of the week” which is Sunday is mentioned only 8 times. 5 of the 8 times, are verses speaking of the resurrection of Christ. In these times we forget the more important element of Salvation. Christ died thus completing the work of Salvation. It is through that death that Christ crushes the devil.
On the Sabbath just as it were after creation, God’s timing was perfect. All of the heavenly host rested on Sabbath. Christ too rested on Sabbath in the tomb. The Sabbath is a symbol of the completion of work.
3 times, the bible speaks of the apostles who had been resting on the Sabbath with the people and the following day, because the people were too impressed, requested they continue teaching them. These verses do not endorse Sunday as a replacement of the Sabbath.
It is like today, we go to Church on Sabbath (Saturday), and say we have a special guest or pastor from a different country. The congregation can request the guest or pastor to extend the teachings on Sunday before they leave for the next District. Does that tell you the Sabbath was stopped? Absolutely not!
The Sabbath is an eternal sign between God and His people. It is a seal of His authority as God and something that He would not just give to anybody else let alone Lucifer the author of sin.
