The woman caught in adultery-Her sins were blown away

It was a normal day for the name. After all she was a known prostitute. Her day was normal. She had had a client and the client was still around when the chill of the morning was turned to her worst nightmare.

Men banged her door probably breaking it and getting in. They found both naked but were ‘interested’ int he woman. Throwing her a dirty linen to cover her naked body, they dragged her in shame down the streets. The laws being clear, the woman saw nothing but a furious mob cursing her as they hurled stones. Only if she had one last moment to confess to God!

Street dogs being too familiar with such scenes too joined the throng. Women from their balconies insulted and cursed at her for stealing their men. The men themselves picked up stones too lazy to find another activity joined the mob following closely.

Her eyes looked down in shame as the world was opened to who she was. Another prostitute. A sinner. A nuisance. Someone to get rid off. She could not face the world and when she tried to look up, she saw the familiar look of the temple.

Why would they bring me here? she wondered. Of all the places to stone a sinner, no one would choose a temple. As she walked up the temple steps, she felt the full burden of her sins. All she had committed. She felt the full burden of being a sinner. The separation of oneself from God. She felt unjustified to be in the presence of God. Each step was a mighty undertaking for her. The closer she drew to the man they brought her to, the worse of a sinner she felt.

John 8:4: They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

They then laid their accusations to Christ. What He did next was what changed her life. “He that is without sin to cast the first stone”. John 8:7

Even the Priests dared not to. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. Standing before Christ, we mist admit the fact that we are sinners. It is for that reason that he had to come and die for us. No one could admit not being a sinner except Christ, for He lived among us but no guile was found in Him, that is why he was the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Christ then starting writing on the ground-apparently her sins. She saw in full glare her sins. Her guilt put before the master. Bare as she was, helpless and poor as she was, she saw her sins looking upon her. She gripped to the tiny fabric she had waiting for the hurl of stones but none came.

John 8:10: When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
John 11: She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

The devil will lure you into temptations, and like the woman, rush to Christ to make accusations. Ask your self this evening, where have you gone wrong? What sins have you committed? What lies have you told? What sins have you not repented of? But the promise of Christ is that ASK, and I will give you. That through the cross we are assured of mercy and forgiveness only if we genuinely repend of our sins. The devil is finished. Christ crushed his head on the cross. Victory is ours but we have to humble ourselves to prayer.

The case is before Christ. Just like the woman, every sin we commit, our conscience should bring us at the feet of Jesus. Look upon the sins you have committed. Like the woman feel how without Christ you are helpless.

But this time focus you mind and prayers on the cross. We have that victory in us. That we are redeemed by the blood of Christ. Just as the wind blew away the writings on the ground, so has Christ taken away your sins. You no longer have to feel the burden of sin walking up to Christ.

This evening commit your heart to prayer. Commit all those sins to the cross. Hebrews 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Pray with me:

Thank you Christ for the gift of Calvary. Thank you for bearing that cross that we may obtain salvation. Thank for for the gift of life and love. I pray for my friends, and all those who are reading this, that Jesus, humble us down to reflect upon the cross. Give us the gift of you Holy Spirit and above all forgive us our sins. Father, I commit these people to you, they read this because of a longing to fellowship with you. Jesus they have opened the doors to their hearts to welcome you. I pray that God you may visit each and everyone of them. Meet them at their points of needs. Above all, continue using us all as a tool to reaching other persons.

in Jesus name.

Please type AMEN and share.
