Walla Walla University Invites A Jesuit To Address SDAs And Lead Worship

If you were alerted that a Jesuit priest was invited to a Seventh-day Adventist Institution of higher learning to address and lead out in worship, you would probably cry “fake news.” Sadly, that is exactly what Walla Walla Seventh-day Adventist University has done. In a program called CommUnity, that every student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree is required to participate in, Jesuit priest, Gregory Boyle is the scheduled speaker for January 9, 2018 at the university church. How can this be!

If the protest is not over and is to continue to the close of time, where are the people of God to protest? Have they forgotten what the Jesuits stand for, that their very existence is to destroy Protestantism and reestablish Papal supremacy using any means necessary? Wherever they go, whether overtly or covertly, they are working to accomplish those ends. Have they forgotten that Roman Catholicism is the enemy of religious freedom and a persecuting power that can never change? Have they forgotten our distinctive identity as Seventh-day Adventists or our peculiar messages, the Three Angels’ Messages? Have they forgotten what the protest is all about—protesting against Popery, Jesuitism and her iniquities and abominations! Oh how Jesus must be grieved! It is no different than in Nehemiah’s day, when the priest Eliashib prepared a chamber in the house of the Lord for Tobiah (Nehemiah 13:7), an avowed enemy of God and His people. The actions of Walla Walla University are not Seventh-day Adventist; but the leaders of the said institution are allowed to use the name Seventh-day Adventists and flaunt the logo all the while rebelling against God and the peculiar identity that He has given his Remnant people. If we are not lifting up our voices against this apostasy, we are complicit and may as well be in attendance at that assembly. “If God abhors one sin above another, of which His people are guilty, it is doing nothing in case of an emergency. Indifference and neutrality in a religious crisis is regarded of God as a grievous crime and equal to the very worst type of hostility against God.” White, Ellen.  Testimonies for the Church, Volume 3 (1872-1875), page 280.

Notice how the organizers from Walla Walla University have spelt the word community, “CommUnity.” This says a lot; and based on the inviting of a Jesuit priest to speak at the University church, this CommUnity is all about ecumenism, uniting with Jesuits and others not of our faith upon common points of doctrine while laying aside distinctive doctrines. Let us understand just who Gregory J. Boyle is to get a better understanding of this CommUnity program. “The Rev. Gregory J. Boyle, S.J., is the founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. A native Angeleno, Father Boyle entered the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) in 1972 and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1984. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and English from Gonzaga University, a master’s degree in English from Loyola Marymount University, a Master of Divinity degree from the Weston School of Theology, and a Master of Sacred Theology degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley.”

Perhaps it is because of the rehabilitative work in the community that Mr. Boyle spearheads that the administration of Walla Walla University decided to invite him. Even so, it is still egregious and not at all justifiable; and this is just the cover that Jesuits use to conceal their deadly purposes and practices. “Throughout Christendom, Protestantism was menaced by formidable foes. The first triumphs of the Reformation past, Rome summoned new forces, hoping to accomplish its destruction. At this time the order of the Jesuits was created, the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of popery… Vowed to perpetual poverty and humility, it was their studied aim to secure wealth and power, to be devoted to the overthrow of Protestantism, and the re-establishment of the papal supremacy. When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, who went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were often concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means… The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery.” White, Ellen.  The Great Controversy (1911), pages 234 and 235

We understand that Satan’s attack is upon the Remnant church and he has set enemies to creep in and infiltrate unawares (Jesuits and others); but when such enemies are invited on the inside, one really must ask the question, Who is the greater enemy? Bear in mind that we have far more to fear from within than from without. Some Seventh-day Adventists will hear of such news and recoil in horror and disbelief, yet many of them eagerly lap up the writings of Jesuits. The opinions and philosophies of Jesuits have been printed, published, and promoted in the world-wide Seventh-day Adventists’ official Sabbath School Lesson guide. (To confirm see the following links: http://ssnet.org/lessons/15c/less01.html, http://www.ssnet.org/lessons/14b/less01.html, http://ssnet.org/lessons/17c/less08m.html ). What is the difference? Just as in the earlier centuries when the Jesuits spread themselves over Europe and a revival of Popery resulted, the Jesuits are now spreading themselves throughout the denominations, even throughout Seventh-day Adventism, in hopes that a revival of Popery, doctrinally and in practice will follow. Again, has your protest come to an end? The Three Angels’ Messages are messages of protest, and if you claim to believe these messages who could not keep silent amid such abomination!

Alex Bryan

As shocking as this revelation may be, it should not be all that surprising considering that the Pastor of Walla Walla University Church is Alex Bryan. He is one of the founders of the One Project Movement, a participant and proponent of emerging spirituality that is deeply entrenched in mysticism and spiritual formation. He has also written books advocating the same. This is the very Alex Bryan that led a once Seventh-day Adventist Church into Sunday worship, which to this day is a non-denominational Sunday-keeping congregation. Why is such a man still employed by the Seventh-day Adventist Denomination? Where is the call to accountability from the laity? Are you really a protestant?

The same founder of Jesuitism, Ignatius Loyola, is the very man that established spiritual formation. Jesuit teachings cannot be separated from mysticism. As prophesied: “The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced.”White, Ellen.  Selected Messages Book One (1958), page 204

In light of all this, we must meet this crisis. “Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles. We have our experience, attested to by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit. We have a truth that admits of no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth…the errors that have been coming in must be met.” White, Ellen.  Selected Messages Book One (1958), page 205

Let it be each Seventh-day Adventist’s motto to “continue the Protest and meet it.”
