You May NEVER Understand How Important Christ Is To You Until You Read This

But just as the Israelites, we do a lot of things that would would keep God away. God wants to live with you through His Spirit. But are you letting Him? 4 min

We all want to live with God. The whole element of Christianity to a kid is to go to ‘heaven and live with God’. But do we really want that? And if you really want to go to heaven, are you really prepared?

After their miraculous mass exodus, God wanted passionately to live with His people. God had made several promises to people who were His friends and He wanted to keep those promises.

But remember at this point, Israelites are more than 600,000 people enmass migrating from Egypt to Canaan. With today’s geographical understanding and Google maps on your phones, check how far these people were travelling.

Gen 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

So to enable that, right from Exodus 20:1 God starts creating a set of regulations that will enable God to live with man. From the ten commandments, God spend tonnes of time with Moses going through each and every detail of how they should live.

And you know why? God, who is HOLY by all definitions of the word HOLY, GOD wanted to live with man. Think about you and your local church community. Now imagine God wanted to live with them.

And because they were on transit, the Israelites were living in Camps. Present day refugee camps. And God did more than that. He designed the camps for them. They were given strict instructions on how the Camp should be.

And you can see right in the middle of the Camp was the Tabernacle.

“…make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.” (Exodus 25:8)

“Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them.” (Exodus 29:45-46)

Yes. Right at the center of the more than 600,000 people God was.

With that understanding now let us look at the book of Leviticus. Right from the first chapter, God speaks to the people through Moses on what should happen in the eventuality that sin is committed.

Lev 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Imagine the joy of living with God. Being in the same Camp and seeing God. Either through the cloud or the fire at night, these people had God in their physical presence daily.

Now the problem for them and for us today is that God expects us to rise up to His standards not He coming down to our standards. And God gave them a good reason and us too. God tells the Israelites the THINGS they should not do

Lev 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

And now you can imagine the constant issues that were happening in the Camp. They would move camps and the men go to the nearby towns to meet prostitutes from these towns (quite similar to what is happening in refugee camps today).

But when they came back, they came back to the presence of God and the whole process had to begin. Why?

Lev 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

Lev 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
Lev 18:29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

God tells the Israelites that as they travel, there lived people in those lands they see. These people committed the same abominations and the lands spued them out.

Let us get back to you.

What did you eat? What did you touch? What did you see? Go through the book of Leviticus. Are you able to live so clean that you would comfortably stay within distance of God?

But again it gets better. That when you accept Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells inside of you. God no longer is at the center of the camp but the Center of your life. Right there.

But just as the Israelites, we do a lot of things that would would keep God away. God wants to live with you through His Spirit. But are you letting Him? Which friends do you keep? Where do you go for fun? Which movies do you watch? Which websites do you browse? What do you eat?

Is your lifestyle clean or does it have spots that you need to go outside the Camp and clean? Because as long as you are dirty, God cannot dwell inside. If your thoughts are dirty, your words are dirty, your home is dirty, your workspace is dirty, your library is dirty, God will not dwell there.

So I invite you to walk back into your life and search. Find all those dirty stuff and throw them OUTSIDE the camp and away from you. Throw those porn recordings from your phone. Through away those habits. First of all, throw away the dirt, then us the Israelites, let us approach God for redemption.

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Now we can approach God through Christ.

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  John 1:29

1Jn 2:1 And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
